What happens if I find damage in a Library book or other material that I check out and take home?
Mark the place in the book or the disc or other item, and notify the Library staff. Please do not attempt to repair the item, our staff has specific repair tools and materials to use to make the best repair possible.
What happens if I, my child, or my pet damages a book or other item? We all know this can happen! Don’t panic, again, please do not attempt to repair the item. Make note of the damage and notify staff. We will do our best to repair the item. You may be charged for the cost of repairs (staff time and materials). If the damage is to a brand new item, or is bad enough that it renders the item difficult to use or too unsightly, or may be a biohazard (blood, insects, mold, etc.), the item will be disposed of and the Library will obtain a replacement copy, at which point you will be charged for the replacement and processing fee.
Remember, Library materials are purchased with taxpayer dollars. Thank you for helping keep the collection as fresh and nice as possible so everyone can enjoy checking out and using Library materials.
