Summer Reading 2024 Info

Summer Reading Banner: Adventure Begins at your Library

There’s something for everyone at Valley Center Public Library in Summer 2024. We have performances and programs for families and persons of all ages, as well as reading challenges to combat “summer slide” and to inspire!

You can sign up on line, via completing and returning a printable form, or by dropping by the Library for a hard copy to fill out. Registrations are needed for everyone who participates . This helps the Library with planning events and supplies needed.

Reading logs are needed for everyone who will be doing the reading challenges for the summer. There are separate logs for children depending upon what age or what grade they are going into this coming fall. Teens in high school can either read the 25 books recommended for other youth, and/or they can participate in the adult Summer Reading Challenge. Children/Youth logs have a strict due date of 4 pm on July 24. Adult/Teen logs are due by close of business on Aug. 30. Prizes will be awarded for all completers who return their logs on time. Please be sure all pages of all logs contain participant’s first and last names.  Children’s prizes will be distributed after the Summer Reading pool party on July 31, from noon to 5 PM in the Library/Community Center Foyer.  Those unable to attend the pool party can pick up their prize bags in the Library during the two weeks after the party.
